Getting Started with LLMChatterbox

Welcome to LLMChatterbox! Your journey begins on our Landing Page.

To kick things off quickly, you can start a conversation by keying in a prompt or you can navigate directly to the Chat Page to start a chat session.

LLMChatterbox uses AI models like OpenAI's ChatGPT and Google's Gemini to generate conversations. To use them, you'll need to provide your own API keys.

1. If you've started a convversation on the landing page, there is a popup window that'll appear requiring you to key in the API keys if you hadn't already.
2. Enter your OpenAI API key in the "ChatGPT" field and/or your Google AI Studio API key in the "Gemini" field.
3. If on the Chats page, click the Settings icon in the top-right corner of the chat page (or via the sidebar).
4. In the "Conversation Settings" dialog, find the "API Tokens" section. Then put in the Keys.
5. Click "Save Settings".

LLMChatterbox features two AI speakers. You can customize their names, personalities (personas), and the AI model they use.

Speaker-Specific Settings:

1. In the chat display, click on a speaker's avatar (the icon next to their message).
2. A dialog will pop up allowing you to set a Custom Name, define their AI Persona Characteristics (e.g., "Speaks like a pirate, very enthusiastic"), and choose their AI Model (ChatGPT or Gemini).
3. Save your changes. These settings will apply to future messages from that speaker role.

Default Settings:

You can also set default personas and models for Speaker 1 and Speaker 2 in the main Settings dialog. Speaker-specific settings will override these defaults if set.

Once your API keys are set up, you can direct the AI conversation:

• New Topic/Instruction: In the input area at the bottom of the chat page, type a new topic or an instruction for the next speaker (e.g., "Discuss the ethics of space travel," or "Speaker 1, please argue against Speaker 2's last point."). Click "Update & Send".
• Continue Conversation: If there's an active conversation and you want the next speaker to continue based on the current topic, simply click the "Continue" button.

Want to see the AIs chat back and forth automatically?

1. Click the "Go Live" button in the chat display area.
2. The AIs will automatically generate messages one after another for a set number of turns.
3. You can configure the number of messages in "Live Mode" via the Settings dialog (under "Live Mode Message Count").
4. Click "Stop Live" to pause automatic generation.

You have control over the generated content:

• Edit Messages: Hover over any AI-generated message. A icon will appear. Click it to edit the message text. Saving an edited message will prune the conversation from that point, and the chat will continue based on your edit.
• Edit Topics: Topic cards ("Topic updated to: ...") can also be edited. Click the icon on the topic card, modify the text, and save. The conversation will then proceed based on this new topic from that point.

Once you're happy with the conversation, you can export it as a PDF. Click the Download button (or just the icon on smaller screens) located in the top-right area of the chat display.

While you can use LLMChatterbox anonymously, creating an account (it's free!) offers benefits:

• Your settings (API keys, personas, etc.) are associated with your account and can be synced if you log in on different browsers (though primary storage is still local).

Use the Sidebar Menu (top-left icon on the chat page) for quick actions:

• New Chat: Clears the current conversation.
• Feedback: Share your thoughts about the app.
• Settings: Access the main settings dialog.
• Login/Logout.

• No Messages Generating? Double-check your API keys in Settings. Ensure they are correct and have available quota.
• Moderated Content: If a message says "Message content hidden by moderation," the AI model's safety filters likely flagged the generated text. Try a different phrasing or topic.
• Experiment! The best way to learn is to try different topics, personas, and instructions. See how the AIs react!
• Sounds Off? You can toggle notification sounds for new messages in the main Settings dialog.
